Leica 50mm Summilux Asph Serial Numbers
It is a 7 element, 5 grouping design with a 12 blade aperture mechanism. This mechanism yields almost perfectly circular bokeh throughout the aperture range. You can expect half click stops between the aperture settings. It weighs in at 275g/9.7oz in black, and 380g/13.4oz in silver. Serial numbers began in the 3588960 and production continued up to serial number 4011798. The lens has a built in hood.
Canon introduced Type I of its lens in 1957 and its production ran until the following year (serial numbers 10000-29390). Type II was introduced in 1959 and was produced until 1972 (serial numbers 29681-120705). After 1972, Canon would abandon the production of rangefinders and focus almost exclusively on SLRs.
Each of the standard production cameras and lenses bear one of a series of consecutive serial numbers which represents one year in the Leica history starting from 4xxx1914 to 4xxx2014. The serial number of each product in one set ends with the same year. Additionally, each camera has a special engraving commemorating the 100th anniversary on the top cover. Another batch of platinum plated cameras must exist as one other camera with an earlier serial number with a diamond and Summilux-M 1.4/35mm Asph. is known to exist but engraving for the 50th Birthday of his Majesty.
Travel photography is my hobby. I love my Noctilux for taking pictures at dawn and at night. For day time, i think the 50mm summicron APO would meet my needs but i also love my 50mm summilux asph alot as i have been using it over the last 2 years.
